Born in Barcelona, he is a specialist in Applied Ecology to the environment and the urban space. He has a PhD in Biology (1994), a Master’s Degree in Ecology and Plant Biology from the UAB (1990) and a Master’s Degree in Technology and Environmental Management from the UPC (2001). He has been a researcher at the Center for Ecological Research and Forest Applications (CREAF) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has been technician specialist biologist of the Service of Planning of the Natural Environment to the Department of Environment of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 1999, created IRBIS a professional studio specialized in ecology applied to urban planning, territory and sustainability. From which he has made a long and innovative career with a special contribution in the preservation of biodiversity, ecological connectivity, territorial and urban planning, the Strategic Environmental Assessment, and the Ecological Footprint. More recently, he works on the design of the Green Infrastructure and the urban landscape, through the development and application of the Nature Based Solutions. In this sense, the design of the ecological strategy of the winning proposal stands out: Urban Canopy of the Urban Project of Free Space in the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes de Barcelona (2014). At the same time he has developed teaching activities and masters, postgraduate and other specialized courses, as well as lectures and conferences. He has made scientific, technical and specialized opinion publications. Since 2009 he is a member of the Nature Protection Council of Catalonia.
